Proxima hip replacement peformed for first time in South India by Indian Orthopedic surgeon


A less invasive form of hip replacement called the Proxima hip was introduced for the first time in Chennai, Tamil nadu by Indian orthopedic surgeon Dr.A.K.Venkatachalam last week.
This is an uncemented hip anchored in the upper part of the thigh bone and has a chance of lasting longer than standard hips.

The patient was a 33 year old house wife with avascular necrosis.
